Build
Base of the Fourth Funnel
Back in Issue 51, I painted the inside surface of this Base of the Fourth Funnel with light-blocking layers of paint. See that issue for more details:
Next, I added the sanded plastic sheets behind the window openings as part of my Frosted Windows mod. These panels have to be cut just right to make sure we leave enough gap to the bottom edge of the Base walls so the locating ridges on the Boat Deck have room to fit inside:
I also quickly painted the inside of the bells of Ventilator A (56C) and Ventilator B (56E) with my Vallejo Model Air 71.270 Off-White acrylic paint:
Step 1
Clip the LED Circuit Board into the tabs on the underside of the Base of the Fourth Funnel.
Make sure the round LEDs (circled below) are seated in their matching holes of the Base, as shown:
Step 2
Glue the D-shaped pin of Ventilator C (56F) into the matching hole of the Motor for Ventilator C (56D), as shown:
There is a bit of play in this connection, so make sure these are aligned straight to each other:
Then, glue the two pins of the Motor for Ventilator C into the matching holes at this location on the roof of the Base of the Fourth Funnel.
The pins/holes of these vents are different sizes so they should only fit into place if oriented correctly. On my model, I have not been gluing these detail parts in place yet just in case more detailed versions become available soon:
Step 3
Glue the two pins Ventilator B (56E) into the matching holes at this location on the roof of the Base of the Fourth Funnel.
The two pins of this Ventilator B are aligned port-to-starboard, unlike Ventilator A which are fore-to-aft:
In the same way, glue the two pins Ventilator A (56C) into the matching holes at this location on the roof of the Base of the Fourth Funnel:
If you so choose, you can connect this LED Circuit Board to the Tester Unit to check the lighting. I did and they worked fine.
Thoughts
I am not sure if we will be receiving frames for the windows of this Base of the Fourth Funnel. Thankfully, my Frosted Windows mod gives them the appearance of window glass. Keep this assembly safe until the next pack arrives and we attach the Fourth Funnel to it.
